Amritsar/Jalandhar, EW News : In a significant move towards gender equality and women's empowerment, the Namdhari sect, led by Satguru Dalip Singh Ji, announced a special initiative during the "Asso Ke Mele" event held in Chogawan Sadhpur village, Amritsar district. Satguru Dalip Singh Ji declared, "In every administrative structure of the Namdhari sect, we will ensure the participation of 50% women. Additionally, we will establish free educational and sewing centers in every Gurudwara and temple to promote Sikhism and empower underprivileged Sikh children. For this noble cause, Namdhari Sikhs are willing to bear the expenses."

Satguru Ji also made a heartfelt appeal to the entire Sikh community, emphasizing the need to provide higher education to girls so that they can excel in every aspect of life. This announcement aligns with the broader goal of fostering gender equality within the Namdhari sect and society as a whole.

The "Asso Ke Mele" event, which took place from October 6th to 8th according to the Assu calendar (September 20th to 22nd, 2022), witnessed the active participation of renowned Ragis, Kathavachaks, and other prominent members of the Namdhari community. They encouraged the congregation to follow the teachings of Satguru Ji, as outlined in the sacred Guru Granth Sahib.

Satguru Ram Singh Ji, the founder of the Namdhari sect, had chosen Chogawan Sadhpur in Amritsar district as his meditation place. The event marked the conclusion of the 40-day-long "Jap Prayog" that began on August 27th, 2022, at this sacred location.

The initiative taken by the Namdhari sect to include women in administrative roles and promote education is a significant step towards women's empowerment and gender equality. While it reflects the sect's commitment to progress and social justice, it also resonates with the broader movement for gender inclusivity in various aspects of life.

It is worth noting that both central and state governments have proposed a 33% reservation for women in various domains, but the implementation has been pending. The Namdhari sect's decision to implement this policy within its own community sets a commendable example.

During the "Asso Ke Mele" event, various charitable activities, including blood donation camps, free yoga sessions, and homeopathic and Ayurvedic medical camps, were organized with the support of the congregation. Prominent individuals like Soba Amarik Singh, Soba Ratan Singh, Sarpanch Gurubhush Singh, Savinder Singh Mehsampur, Satnam Singh, Master Sukhdev Singh, Master Iqbal Singh, Pradhan Balwinder Singh Dugri, Sant Lakhwinder Singh Kidi Afghana, Sant Kulwinder Singh Bath, Jaswinder Singh Bath, Gurpinder Singh Bath, Simranjit Kaur, Sandeep Kaur, Manjeet Kaur, Ranjeet Kaur, Daljit Kaur, Kashmir Kaur, Sushma Markanda, and Sevadar Banty actively participated alongside Sikh devotees from across the country and abroad.
