Four dead as high tension wire falls inside dam in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, In an unfortunate incident an old age woman and three minor boys lost their lives as a high tension wire broke and fell in Pipla Dam under MGM police station area of the East Singhbhum district on Sunday.

Among the deceased also included two brothers, agitated over the incident the villagers blocked traffic movement on the NH-33 demanding action against the officials of the electricity department and compensation for the kin of the deceased.

Due to the agitation, a long queue of vehicles was stranded on both sides of the road. The deceased included Kulabela Mahto (65), Kamal Mahto (15), Bimal Mahto (12) (both brothers) and Rohit Mahto (12). A cattle died due to electrocution. Another youth Sachin Mahto was somehow saved by the people.

Post the incident all four were taken to MGM Hospital where they were declared dead by the doctors. The villagers said that on many occasions the power department was asked to get the high tension wire repaired but they failed to take any action.
