Banking on Wellness: PNB Marks Yoga Day with Green Commitment

Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India’s leading public sector banks, commemorated the 11th International Yoga Day today with a spirited celebration centered around the global theme — Yoga for One Earth, One Health. Reinforcing its commitment to holistic well-being and environmental consciousness, PNB organized yoga sessions across its Head Office and regional branches, bringing together employees under the shared vision of personal and planetary wellness.

The central event held at the PNB Head Office witnessed enthusiastic participation from the leadership team and staff.  Ashok Chandra, MD & CEO of PNB, led the session alongside Executive Directors  Kalyan Kumar,  Bibhu Prasad Mahapatra, and  D. Surendran. Chief General Managers, General Managers, and members of the PNB Parivaar from across the nation took part in the celebrations, which focused on practical yoga exercises, including breathing techniques, Suryanamaskar, and guided meditation.

The bank also ensured wide participation by registering its zonal and circle offices for Yoga Sangam 2025 via the Ministry of Ayush portal. Yoga sessions were organized in eco-conscious settings, aligning with the theme that underscores the intrinsic link between human health and environmental sustainability.

Addressing employees on the occasion,  Ashok Chandra highlighted the evolving significance of yoga in modern life. “Yoga, one of India’s most ancient and revered practices, has successfully gained global recognition through the UN's International Yoga Day. This year's theme, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ beautifully captures the truth that our well-being is intricately tied to the planet's health. By adopting small daily practices like Pranayam, meditation, or chanting, we can significantly uplift our mental and physical health. A healthy body and a peaceful mind enable us to contribute more meaningfully to our work, families, and environment,” he said.

He further noted that yoga's power lies in its simplicity and universality, making it an accessible tool to promote physical vitality, emotional stability, and environmental awareness across all age groups. “In our fast-paced lives, yoga offers balance and clarity — fostering a healthier workplace and a better society,” he added.

By embracing this year’s theme, PNB has reaffirmed its role not just as a financial institution but also as a socially responsible organization that values the interconnectedness of health, harmony, and sustainability. Through the yoga sessions, the bank promoted unity, resilience, and a conscious lifestyle, inspiring employees to integrate yoga into their daily routines for long-term benefits.
