A regional conference was organized on Sunday at the Government Engineering College in Lesliganj, under the Palamu district, on the major issues of remand and bail jurisprudence. The event was inaugurated by Honorable Justice Ratnakar Bhengara of the Jharkhand High Court, along with Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary Jharkhand High Court, Director of Judicial Academy Sudhanshu Kumar Shashi, Palamu Principal District and Sessions Judge Neeraj Kumar Srivastava, and Deputy Commissioner of Palamu Shashi Ranjan.

The conference was organized with the collaboration of the Judicial Academy of Jharkhand, and the judicial districts of Palamu, Garhwa, and Latehar. Present at the conference were the PDJ Garhwa Mr. Rajesh Sharan Singh, and PDJ Latehar Mr. Akhil Kumar, along with judicial officers, magistrates, IG Raj Kumar Lakda, SP Reshma Rameshan and President of Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar Bar Association Among others.

Speaking at the occasion, Justice Ratnakar Bhengara, Judge High court of Jharkhand and Administrative Judge Garhwa emphasized the need for police and magistrates to adhere to security measures, citing continuous directives from the Supreme Court regarding arrest procedures. He stressed the importance of exercising extreme caution before resorting to the use of force during arrests. He also mentioned the magistrate's authority under Section 437 to grant bail for sentences exceeding seven years, emphasizing that the decision should be based on facts and legal principles.

Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary, Judge High court of Jharkhand and Administrative Judge Palamu discussed the obligations of the police under Section 41 and 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code, highlighting the importance of complying with the provisions before making an arrest. The conference also featured detailed discussions on various aspects of bail and remand jurisprudence, with Supreme Court advocate Prem Prakash shedding light on recent judicial trends and important precedents.

Furthermore, Inspector Asit Kumar Modi from the Investigation Training School in Ranchi elaborated on the provisions of the NDPS Act 1985. The conference aimed to enhance understanding and adherence to legal procedures concerning arrest, remand, and bail, ensuring justice is served efficiently and fairly.

During the discussion on the major issues of remand and bail jurisprudence, Supreme Court advocate Prem Prakash provided an in-depth analysis of the intricacies of remand and bail laws, emphasizing the importance of compliance with Section 41 notices by the police prior to arrests. He also shed light on the issues of bail and remand in the context of recent judicial trends, providing insights into significant judgments. Inspector Asit Kumar Modi from the Investigation Training School in Ranchi further discussed the provisions of the NDPS Act 1985, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of legal procedures related to arrests and detentions.
