Three caught by Special Branch on charges of attempt to destabilise state government

Ranchi,  Sleuths of the Special Branch have arrested three men from a city hotel in the capital on the charges of them being involved in attempts to destabilise the state government by luring MLAs through cash. An FIR in this connection was registered at the Kotwali Police Station on Saturday against Abhishek Dubey, Amit Singh and Niwaran Prasad Mahto under sections 419, 420, 124 A, 120 B and 34, Section 171 of PR Act and Section 8/9 of PC Act.

Sources said that the special branch had received a tip off that some people were hatching a conspiracy to destabilise the state government after which raids were conducted at some prominent hotels in the capital and from one such spot these men were arrested and Rs 2 lakh in cash was recovered from them. On the basis of the information provided by the arrested investigation is being done across other districts of the state as well. Police said that the entire action was taken following a complaint letter given to Kotwali Police

on July 22 by Congress party’s Bermo MLA Jaimangal Singh expressing possibility of horse trading.  However of the three people arrested one is a contractual worker, another is a fruit seller (both from Bokaro) and the third one works in a ration shop (Ranchi). The arrests have raised serious questions over functioning of the Ranchi Police and Special Branch as to how these men could have hatched a conspiracy to topple the government. While the ruling JMM has alleged that it was a conspiracy of the BJP to topple the government, JMM central General Secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that plans of the BJP to do a Karnataka or Madhya Pradesh did not succeed in Jharkhand. On the other hand the BJP and its leaders have taken a swipe over the issue.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has taken a jibe at this whole matter. He has written on social media that now with Rs 2 lakhs four men are together buying MLAs in Jharkhand. He said that the Chief Minister has set a price tag of Rs 10,000 on the MLA. Dubey said that in Bakrid, the price of goat is many times more than this.
