Chennai, The Tamil Nadu Government will take necessary steps to get the President’s consent to exempt the state from the purview of NEET exams for admissions to medical courses.
Delivering his customary address to the newly constituted 16th Legislative Assembly, Governor Banwarilal Purohit said the State Government has constituted a committee headed by Justice A.K.Rajan to study the adverse impact of NEET on socially and educationally backward students.
“Based on the recommendations of the committee, the Government will introduce necessary Legislation to ensure that the students of Tamil Nadu are not adversely affected by NEET”, he said. Mr Purohit said the government will take necessary steps to obtain the consent of the President for such legislation. It may be noted that the DMK in its election manifesto has promised to scrap NEET exams for the state.
