Vehicles carrying minerals will have to pay toll tax in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Vehicles carrying minerals from the state will have to pay toll tax. However, no toll block will be levied for this. Vehicles will have to pay toll tax at source along with mining challan. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday. In the meeting, the Jharkhand Highway Fee Rates Fixation and Collection Amendment Rules, 2021 were approved.

According to this, vehicles carrying minerals will have to pay Rs 600 as toll tax per trip. Vehicles will have to pay a total toll tax of Rs 1200 for entering and leaving the mining areas. Tax will also be payable in case the mineral is taken to the railway siding. With this decision, the state has been estimated to have an additional income of Rs 600 to 700 crore annually.
