Previous govt had no development ‘agenda’: Yogi

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a scathing at the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) government led by Akhilesh Yadav and alleged that it had no “agenda’ for development of the state.

“The earlier government (SP) had no agenda for development of the state. They only thought it had was how to make the family prosper,” Adityanath said in an apparent reference to his predecessor and SP supremo Mulayam Yadav and his family.
“Samajwadi government was only limited to ‘me and my family’,” Yogi said while addressing a gathering after inaugurating and dedicating several projects worth around Rs 1,400 crore in Badaun.

He also accused the Yadav family of not caring about the people’s welfare and only “thinking about their families development”.

“Before 2017, the law and order situation was terrible in UP. Lawlessness was at its peak. Every other day there used to be riots, and festivals could not be celebrated peacefully. But, now the situation has changed. After 2017, there has been no riot in UP and people celebrate festivals without any hindrances,” Yogi said as the Diwali festival gave way to Chhath Puja.

He said since after the BJP rode to power in UP, it has zero-tolerance against crime and criminals.

“We have zero-tolerance against crime and criminals. We have taken various initiatives in this regard. Assets worth Rs 1,800 crore of mafias were confiscated and properties equivalent to the same value were bulldozed,” the CM said.

Yogi also accused the earlier government of glorifying rioters by felicitating them.

“Earlier government used to take back cars of terrorist. Rioters were called in to Chief Minister’s Office and felicitated,” he alleged, while mentioning his government stand to tackle ‘terrorism.’

He also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government for safety of women like ‘anti-romeo’ squad, and added that besides closure of illegal abattoirs, it started ‘gau seva’.

Yogi further said in the last 4.5 years of his government, around 4.5 lakh youth got jobs.

He said the central government gave free ration till Diwali and added that after that his government will continue it till Holi.
