The Supreme Court on Sunday suspended physical hearing for the next two weeks in view of the increasing cases of the Omicron variant of the corona virus. Now for the next two weeks, the court will hear through virtual medium. A notification has also been issued by the Supreme Court regarding the virtual hearing starting again from Monday.
Less than 24 hours are left for the Supreme Court to reopen after the winter break. In the notification issued by the court regarding physical hearing, it has been said that a circular issued earlier prescribing the standard operating procedure (SOP) for hearing with physical presence (hybrid hearing) will remain suspended for this period. This SOP was issued by the court on 7 October 2021.
The notification regarding physical hearing from the Supreme Court has come on a day when more than 3000 new cases of corona virus were reported in the capital Delhi. Cases of Omicron variant of corona virus have been found in 23 states of the country. According to the Covid Dashboard created by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Sunday, more than 18000 new cases of corona have been reported in the country and 284 people have died.
