New Delhi/Ranchi: Petition filed in the Supreme Court regarding OBC reservation in Panchayat elections in the state of Jharkhand has been dismissed. Panchayat elections will be held without OBC reservation as per the order of the Supreme Court. A petition in support of OBC resrervation was filed by AJSU Party MP Chandraprakash Chaudhary. The court says that the election has already been delayed a lot due to Covid-19 and now the triple test will be delayed further. Hence, Panchayat elections will be conducted without OBC reservation.

While hearing on the petition of MP Chandraprakash Chaudhary, the Supreme Court has directed the state government to start the process of triple test before the next election. The court said that at present the date of the election has been announced. In such a situation, now the petition has become ineffective, it is dismissed. In this decision, the way has been opened to elect more than 60 thousand Panchayat representatives in the state.
