After the JMM Legislature Party meeting on Saturday, JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya had confirmed that the party would field its candidate at any cost. After this, Chief Minister Hemant Soren went to Delhi late in the evening to meet Congress National President Sonia Gandhi. Late night in Delhi, he met the Congress leader. After that the discussion was in full swing that JMM has decided to give one seat of Rajya Sabha to Congress. However, now after the candidate of JMM was given, all the speculations have come to an end.

JMM, which has 30 MLAs in the 81-member assembly, had decided to give its candidate in the election. Voting for two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand is to be held on June 10. At the same time, the last date for nomination of candidates is 31 May. At present, the membership of MLA Bandhu Tirkey, who went to Congress from Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, has ended after being sentenced to three years imprisonment on March 28 in the disproportionate assets case. In such a situation, the total number of members eligible to vote this time is 80. That is why the candidate who got 26.67 votes in the present state assembly is considered to be in the Rajya Sabha.

At present, the ruling JMM has 30 MLAs in the assembly. At the same time, his supporters are a total of 17 MLAs of Congress. Another supporting party is an MLA from RJD. While the main opposition BJP has a total of 26 MLAs. In such a situation, one candidate each from the ruling coalition and the opposition will be elected in the Rajya Sabha.
