Jewelery worth crores disappeared from the lockers of United Bank, deputy manager suspended

Daltonganj, Jewelery worth crores of rupees has gone missing from the lockers of United Bank of India’s Daltonganj branch after the merger with Punjab National Bank. In this case, the police is interrogating half a dozen bank employees and gold traders, including the bank’s deputy manager Prashant Kumar. The branch manager has also been kept by the police at Medininagar Town police station for two days for questioning.

On the other hand, Ramashankar Sharma has been posted as branch manager in Daltonganj branch under immediate arrangement from the regional office of Punjab National Bank in Ranchi. Another officer has also been deputed with him. Bank officials said on Tuesday that the deputy manager Prashant Kumar, who was initially found guilty, has been suspended with immediate effect. Internal investigation is on. The Chief Manager is also going to come to Daltonganj on Wednesday. After this the speed of investigation will be faster.

So far, jewellery, cash and other important documents have been found missing from the lockers of six customers of the bank. There are total 90 lockers in the bank. Those whose cash and ornaments are missing from the locker include Agriculture Scientist Ashok Kumar Sinha, Physician Dr. Jai Kumar, Nilambar-Pitamber University employees Rajeev Mukherjee, Guddu Shukla.

All of them reached the bank on Tuesday and met the acting branch manager and gave their complaint. The victims said that they were never even talked about with respect in the branch. The bank officials asked for a copy of the complaint made to the police from the victims but they refused to give it.

SP Chandan Kumar Sinha said that the police research has almost reached a conclusion in the case of missing jewellery, cash and other important documents by tampering with the bank locker. Several others, including bank officials, are being taken into custody and interrogated. Everything will come out on Wednesday.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Sinha, a scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra located at Chianki in Palamu district, was the first to come to know about the missing of 21 lakh ornaments from his locker. After this, he filed a case at Medininagar Town Police Station on September 17, 2021. The investigation of the case was handed over to Sub-Inspector Nakul Shah. Palamu Civil Court’s advocate Satish Kumar Mishra said that in the sections under which the case has been registered, the punishment can range from two to ten years.

Keep these things in mind if the things kept in the locker

– Lock the locker properly while keeping the luggage – Do 

not be in a hurry, sometimes the locker is left open and people leave 

– After locking, try opening it again with the key 

– Do not share the key number and locker number with anyone 

– While locking, care should be taken that no item has fallen from side to side
