EM Correspondent Ranchi: Hemant Soren took the oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand in a grand swearing-in ceremony held at Morhabadi Ground in Ranchi. Several MPs, MLAs, former legislators, senior officials, and a large crowd of common citizens also attended the ceremony. After taking the oath, Chief Minister Hemant Soren extended his greetings to the thousands of attendees by waving to the crowd. Many dignitaries congratulated him and wished him success in his leadership role, expressing their hopes for the state’s progress under his tenure. Key Decisions Taken in Cabinet Meeting Chaired by CM Hemant Soren

Key Highlights of the Meeting: Pro-tem Speaker Appointment: Professor Stephen Marandi was appointed as the Pro-tem Speaker to administer the oath or affirmation to the members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
Sixth Assembly Session Dates: The first session of the Sixth Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will be convened from December 9 to December 12, 2024. Maiya Samman Yojana: Beneficiaries under this scheme will receive a monthly stipend of ₹2,500 starting from December 2024. Recovery of Dues: The state will initiate legal proceedings to recover ₹1,36,000 crore in dues from the Central Government and its enterprises. New sources of income will be explored. Existing taxes in the mining sector will be revised. A special cell within the Finance Department will expedite pending judicial recoveries.
Police Recruitment Exam Review:
The process for future police recruitment exams will undergo a comprehensive review. Recruitment Calendar by January 2025: Recruitment authorities, including JPSC and JSSC, will publish an examination calendar for filling vacant positions by January 1, 2025.
Assam Tea Garden Study: An all-party delegation, along with officials, will visit Assam to study the conditions of tribal groups of Jharkhand origin working in tea gardens. Their report will guide the provision of future welfare measures. These decisions underscore the government’s commitment to administrative efficiency, social welfare, and financial growth for the state.
