Ranchi: After announcing the candidate from Congress in Mandar by-election, now BJP has also announced its candidate. Gangotri Kujur, BJP’s state vice-president and former MLA of Mandar, has been made a candidate for Mandar bypoll. The name of Gangotri Kujur has been announced by the Central Election Committee of the party. On Thursday, in the State Election Committee meeting at the State BJP office in Ranchi, the names of possible candidates were discussed, in which the name of Gangotri Kujur was at the forefront. The names of Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra and former IPS Dr Arun Oraon were also discussed. After the meeting, the State Election Committee had sent the recommendation of the names to the Central Election Committee.

Gangotri Kujur graduated from Ranchi University in 1988. She has been a BJP MLA from Mandar from 2014 to 2019. She has also served as the State Information Commissioner. In 2020, an FIR was lodged against him at Chanho police station in Ranchi in a case of collecting soil from Sarna site and sending it to Ayodhya for land worship. At present, Gangotri Kujur is the state vice-president of BJP. Her husband is a retired officer of the Department of Telecommunications. He has two daughters. Both are married.
