The fear of Naxalites continues in Jharkhand. Government ponds are not being arranged in the Naxal-affected areas of Tundi-Topchanchi. Due to the fear of Naxalites, no Matsya Sahayog Samiti comes forward for the settlement of these ponds. Due to this the government is losing revenue.
Dhanbad District Fisheries Department has 1298 government ponds.

The ponds are arranged every year. After taking the safe deposit, the department has entrusted the right of settlement to the Fisheries Society. Till now more than 400 ponds have not been settled in the district. Out of which most of the ponds fall in Tundi and Topchanchi area. Even after fixing the date of bidding for the post of ponds two to three times by the fisheries department, no committee showed interest. More than 50 ponds in Tundi come under Naxal-affected areas, including the areas of Maniadih, Sarra, Machiara, Palma, Jeetpur. In these areas, almost all the ponds, except one or two ponds, remain like this, due to which there is loss of revenue to the government.
Similarly, in Topchanchi, there was no settlement of ponds in the area under the influence of Naxalites.

There are 57 government ponds in Tundi. In this regard, Dhanbad District Fisheries Officer Mujahid Ansari said that till now the settlement of 30 to 40 ponds in the district has not been done. Its numbers are more in Tundi, Topchanchi and Govindpur. It is the effort of the department that as many ponds as possible should be settled.
