New Delhi: Big relief to the masses amid rising inflation. The central government has announced to reduce the excise duty on petrol and diesel. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said that the central government is reducing the central excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per liter and on diesel by Rs 6 per liter. This will reduce the price of petrol by Rs 9.5 per liter and that of diesel by Rs 7 per liter. Not only this, the government has also cut the price of domestic gas cylinders by Rs 200 for the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme.

Finance Minister Sitharaman said that we are also reducing custom duty on raw materials and middlemen for those plastic products, where our import dependence is high. Import duty on some steel raw materials will also be reduced. However, export duty will be levied on some steel products. Along with this, he has also told the central government to make efforts regarding the price of cement.
