Ranchi: Hearing was held in the High Court today in the 34th National Games scam held in Ranchi. The command of the investigation of the case of the amount spent by the organizing committee has now been handed over to the CBI.

Hearing was held in the court of Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad today. During this, an objection was lodged by the National Games Organization committee calling the amount of expenditure as baseless. Decision on this matter was reserved on 8 April and to Judgment to hand over the case to CBI was delivered today.

Significantly, in the scam case, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had registered an FIR in 2010. Organizing committee chairman RK Anand, general secretary SM Hashmi, the then sports director PC Mishra, treasurer Madhukant Pathak and others were accused of committing financial irregularities and buying sports goods at exorbitant prices. ACB registered an FIR in 2010 in connection with the scam of Rs 28 crore 38 lakh in the 34th National Games.

In this case, the validity of the ACB inquiry was challenged on behalf of the applicant. Describing the investigation process of ACB as suspicious, the petitioner had demanded a CBI inquiry.
