Ranchi: In Jharkhand, the BJP is attacking the state government every day with one or the other issue. After besieging the government regarding the power crisis and the mining lease case related to the CM, now here the BJP has raised questions about the salary of the current DGP of the state. The inaugural CM of the state, Babulal Marandi, has questioned the DGP for working without pay through a tweet. His tweet reads as, “Heard that the DGP of the state police is working without pay. The Accountant General has not issued him the salary slip to the DGP after 31 January i.e. actual retirement. In the state whose DGP will work without pay, what else will happen if there is no theft of coal, sandstone, land?”
The hearing was held in February last month on the petition filed for urgent hearing of the pending contempt petition against Jharkhand government and DGP Neeraj Sinha in the Supreme Court. During the hearing, a three-member bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice Hima Kohli said that the apex judicial body will consider listing the matter soon. It has been alleged in the petition of the applicant that Neeraj Sinha is working even after his retirement on January 31. During the hearing, the court was told on behalf of the petitioner that the contempt petition was ordered to be listed in September last year. But, it has not come up for hearing yet and in the meantime Neeraj Sinha is working as the DGP of Jharkhand even after his retirement. In this regard, the bench said that the courts are hearing only those that have been restricted due to Covid-19 and will consider the petition for early hearing.
