Hemant Soren asks Coal India to provide royalty on coal on ‘Ad Valorem’ basis

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren asked Coal India Chairman Pramod Aggarwal to ensure that royalty on coal should be provided to the state on Ad Valorem basis. In a meet with CIL Chairman he also pointed that the mining company owes Rs 56,000 crore to the state government for the land given by the state to undertake mining activities and demanded that the money should be provided to the state government. He further said that in areas where mining activities is being done in those areas CCL should undertake plantation drive on a large scale and even the company should work with dedication in the areas of health care.

The Chief Minister suggested that CCL should also run a super speciality Hospital and gave his necessary suggestions for the same. Mr Soren expressed his concern over slow pace in execution of Jharia Rehabilitation Plan. The Coal India Chairman assured that positive action will be taken on the matters which have been pointed to him. He also raised the issue of land for Rajmahal Project of ECL, land verification for CCL, forest pattas, increasing the tenure of CTO to atleast three years and ensuring regular transportation of coal from Amrapali project over which the Chief Minister assured that the government will look into the areas pointed by Coal India Chairman.
Those present on the occasion included Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, Principal Secretary of Chief Minister Rajeev Arun Ekka, Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan and CMDs of ECL and CCL.
