New Delhi: Anil Baijal has resigned as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. He tendered his resignation letter to President Kovind citing personal reasons. Baijal became the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on 31 December 2016. Earlier in the year 2016, the then Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Najeeb Jung had resigned amid a tussle over the officials of the Central and Aam Aadmi Party government and now Anil Baijal has also suddenly resigned citing personal reasons.

Anil Baijal, a former IAS officer who was the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for more than four years, has served in the service period in top positions in government companies like Prasar Bharati and Indian Airlines. Along with this, Baijal has also been the secretary of the Union Home Ministry during the tenure of the UPA government. Like Najeeb Jung, Baijal’s tenure too passed amid heavy tussle.
