Alleged Irregularities discovered in CAPF Recruitment: West Bengal

CBI Preliminary Enquiry Reveals Instances of Illegal Recruitment via Forged Domicile Certificates

In a recent development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the probe into alleged irregularities in the recruitment process of the Central Para Military Forces (CAPFs) in West Bengal. The investigation was initiated last August, following the directions of the Calcutta High Court, which sought to address the allegations of illegal recruitment in the armed forces and CAPFs through the use of forged domicile certificates.

After conducting a preliminary inquiry, Justice Jay Sengupta, who oversaw the investigation, found no irregularities in the armed forces recruitment process. However, the report revealed four instances of improper recruitment practices within the CAPFs.

It has come to light that West Bengal, being a border state, has allowed lower cut-off marks in the examinations for employment in the CAPFs. This leniency, intended to provide opportunities to local candidates, has been exploited by individuals using fabricated domicile certificates to secure recruitment illegally.

The CBI’s takeover of the investigation signifies a step towards uncovering the truth behind these allegations and bringing any culprits to justice. It is expected that further detailed investigations will probe the extent of this issue and identify the individuals involved in these fraudulent recruitment practices.

The revelation of these irregularities in CAPF recruitment further highlights the importance of maintaining a stringent and transparent selection process. It calls for measures to be implemented to prevent the misuse of domicile certificates and ensure that only deserving candidates are selected based on merit and qualifications.

As the investigation progresses, it remains to be seen how the authorities will address this issue and take appropriate action to safeguard the integrity of recruitment processes in the CAPFs.
