Ranchi: ADG Anurag Gupta, who has been suspended for two years, has got a big relief on Monday. The state government has revoked his suspension. According to the information, the government issued an order in this regard late on Monday evening. On 22 April 2022, the Central Administrative Tribunal Court (CAT) had ordered ADG Anurag Gupta to release the suspension. Under which he was released from suspension. On 14 February 2020, Jharkhand government led by CM Soren suspended Anurag Gupta, who was working as ADG of CID. He was accused of luring the then Barkagaon MLA Nirmala Devi to vote in favour of the BJP candidate in the 2016 Rajya Sabha elections, as well as threatening her husband, former minister Yogendra Sao.

After the Rajya Sabha elections held in 2016, former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi released an audio tape. In which there was talk of a conversation between ADG Anurag Gupta, the then MLA Nirmala Devi and her husband Yogendra Saw. The whole matter was complained to the Election Commission. After the prima facie investigation in this case, an FIR was also lodged on the orders of the commission. Departmental action was started after the suspension of Anurag Gupta in February 2020. The responsibility of investigation was given to the then DGP MV Rao in which he gave clean chit to ADG.
